This has been playing on my mind for some time. Previously, I was a big supporter of "‘The New Atheists” & “The Intellectual Dark Web”. I was particularly fond of the works of the late Christopher Hitchens and of Sam Harris. Subsequently, my fondness for Harris (since his Trump Derangement Syndrome) has decreased. I was still a fan of Douglass Murray (less so after 2020).
I would very strongly suggests these new religions you speak of are not aberrrations of your religious atheism...but in fact are predictable features.
Take your atheistic religion back to the days of Darwin...Marx and Engel.
Each of them shared the core of your belief. A disdain for any characterization of God...in any form.
A purely materialistic mechanism of everything from nothing...of absolute meaningless process with mathmatical impossibilities...not improbabilities.
Then expand it into the world of survival of the fittest...no values...no right or wrong...only colliding molecules of happenstance. Then tell me why these fellow atheists of yours..the new progressives...are so repulsive to you?
What of it? They do only what you preach as truth. Let them be...they too are creating the distopian world that only atheists could imagine.
Why judge them when in fact everything they do is merely the outcome of gradualism...the ever evolving of the species. No purporse or direction...no intelligent design to be blamed is within them. They simply are evolving from colliding protons and neutrons...hoping for a positive outcome...but let me remove hope from that formula...as it lends itself towards the notion of deity.
